Sun Glow Window Covering Products of Canada Ltd.
My fourteen year old, Christian, had a school project involving a grass roots charity. He selected the Red Door because he remembered that Sun Glow had donated food to the charity a couple of years earlier. I drove Christian to his interview where we were given a tour of the shelter and heard a description of their operations.
The Red Door Shelter was established in Toronto in 1982 to serve women and children fleeing violence; refugees; and other families needing safe, supportive housing in an emergency situation.

What I immediately noticed was that the staff and the residents at the shelter seemed very happy and very friendly. I learned that the average stay is about three months and during that period the shelter serves as a temporary home for homeless families while they got back on their feet and are able to move into their own home once again. Numerous service professionals are available to teach residents how to survive in society, from how to get a job, to health care, to government paperwork, to finding low income housing. Donated furniture is even provided to the families when they move out and into their own apartments.

During the tour I could not help but notice the condition of the window treatments, they included drapery of all different types, falling off the rods. Sun Glow replaced their existing window treatments with roller shades. We chose Graphic Shades in the Day Care room – room darkening so that the children can sleep during nap time. We also selected NEO shade so that cords would not be in issue.
In the three common rooms we selected sheerweave that allows and outward view but reduces the glare for watching television.
The staff and residents were very happy with their new environment, and what was initially an educational experience for my son quickly became an unforgetable experience in my life as well.
